Bressan joined Xerox in 2005 as a researcher with expertise in computer vision and pattern recognition. In 2006 he assumed the management of the image processing research group. Text mining activities were then incorporated giving rise to the Textual and Visual Pattern Analysis research area that Bressan led until late 2009. This group creates technology to enable daily interaction with textual and visual content. Sample research lines are hybrid information access, visual representations, text mining, aesthetics and document imaging. The area has delivered some core technology components to the Xerox services business, notably contributing to the Xerox Smarter Document ManagementSM Platform and the Xerox Smarter Device Management suite. During 2008 Bressan coordinated a global research program aimed at designing and incubating the next generation of services for the corporation.

Prior to Xerox, Bressan worked in the fields of business and client intelligence, media asset management, smart surveillance systems, satellite imaging, augmented reality and biometrics. During this time, Bressan co-founded two technology-based startups. The results of Bressan’s research can be found in a large number of international publications and over 12 patents and patent applications.

Dr. Bressan holds a BA in Applied Mathematics from the University of Buenos Aires, a M.Sc. in Computer Vision from the Computer Vision Centre in Spain and a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Bressan is a member of the Industrial Liaison Committee of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR). He is an active member of the network of Argentinian researchers abroad and one of the founders of the Network of Computer Vision and Cognitive Science Researchers.
